Started by tofugu · 10 months ago

Apparently there’s this neat little product over in Japan that’s called “ママ鼻水トッテ,” which roughly translates to “Mama takes (sucks) my nose mucus.” Seriously, only t ... Continue reading »

  • I already seen this product here in France four years ago, so I doubt about the fact that that product has been created in japan. Nevertheless, I have to say that it is very useful, imagine yourself with the nose stuck without knowing what to do that mucus, and also imagine the torture of the mother or the father listenning to his baby making strange noises with his nose
  • Don't have something for the ear as well? Like some kind of earwax sucking contraption?

"ママ耳垢トッテ” <- Thats not the real name, but I'm sure I seen something like it on TV.
  • We use it at home on our toddler, but I don't do the sucking of course. The relief on my boys face is fairly evident and it does help him sleep.

Ear candles are another thing completely, they are an invention by the Hoppi Indians of North America and use a canvas straw which burns at one end drawing all the wax out of your ear. I would recommend them to anyone who needs their ears cleaned out.

I wouldn't shove the nose contraption in any ones ear, perforated eardrums don't sound like much fun.
  • hahahahah it is funny!! japanese people are funny ! and they think different ! coool

Haven't these been proven to be a hoax? I thought I read about that somewhere...

Anyway hilarious article. Y'all are on a roll.
  • lmao, the pictures are so funny
  • .. I'd would probably just use tissues.
  • "It’s not a pill so us American’s won’t deal with it."

But would American's deal with inserting pills through their rectum?
  • That's soooo nasty!
  • Well, if it helps the baby, then that makes it a good invention to have. The thing that I’ve seen most in the US is this bubble-bottomed thingie with a tube part that you squeeze and the air sucks the mucus back into the bubble part. Not as clean, but just as effective.
The article was hilarious! Just for the record, most barf bags are white paper bags with nice calm instructions and fun facts. . . on the sides. I found a few websites of this; google “barf bags”. The best ones I saw were on a "sicksack" website. Interesting.

Just being helpful one step at a time.
  • I prefer the Bulb Syringe, but it's not safe if used by people who don't know what they're doing. Apparently this "Mama took my nose mucus" thing is really safe. Or so says my mom.
I still can't get past the idea that someone would be sucking out snot.
  • This product is amazing! My Japanese neighbor gave one to me and I laughed at the thought of trying this out until my 6 week old got a cold and I was willing to try anything. This sucks out the snot very quickly, it is less invasive than the bulb because you do not have to stick it as far into the nostrills and it cleans all of the snot out. There is a trap so the snot does not get sucked into your mouth. I highly recommend this product to anyone with children.
  • you know it is a great idea! Too bad it is so gross. Man I got a stuffy nose right now. Anyone one feel like trying one out?
  • This is kinda nasty but, meh. I just played on a claw machine and failed miserably. :( Any japanese holiday posts coming up?
  • That's a little disgusting.
  • Hmm. Imagine doing this on yourself.
  • Eww, nasty! Japanese mothers are obviously very selfless.
I dread to think what they do when their kids are constipated! Suck the turds out of the childrens' arses?
(Sorry for that putting that image in your head.)
Hey, I wonder if any businessmen have developed a creepy sexual fetish for snot-sucking yet?

Ear candles are actually very bad for your ears. Unfortunatelyy, they do TO GOOD a job at clearing away all the wax. We need some of that wax in there, that is why it is there. The heat from the process is also fairly damaging to the small hairs inside the ears. Although it is still a popular practice, I would certainly not say it was good to do to children.
  • Oh my..... O_o;...
  • wow thats fascinating but gross i cant believe japanese mothers r that selfless i hate kids and im a kid myself than again im not a kid but close enough
  • my mum used it when i was little, now i'm 16 so i don't think it is a new invention, by the way i'm from slovakia. i probably wouldn't use it is's really gross, just imagine the bottle full, eww
