Canned Disaster Relief Ramen NOT a Disaster

Started by tofugu · 10 months ago

You’d think that after possible nuclear meltdown, a heat wave, minor tsunami, and regular Godzilla attacks, people would be tired of canned disaster food. Problem is, people can’t get enough of it.
Fujitaka, a Kyoto-based vending machine manufacturer came up wi ... Continue reading »

  • awesome, it would optimize the time that one needs to cook ramen and let us be even more productive. That or it would be less boring, since the boiling water looks like it takes forever.ht
  • NONE of my friends here in the states understand what a big part vending machines play in the lives of the Japanese. If you are going to have a TON of vending machines all around a city, you have to do it right, and the Japanese really do. I don't know HOW many times I was walking around Tokyo and though "I really want a slimming green tea with antioxidants" and lo and behold, a vending machine would pop up right in front of me. Genius.

Now, those vending machines with iPods that I 've seen in Tokyo may be taking it a BIT too far, but wow, the US could really learn something here.
  • Wow, I don't think I would prefer this over the original ramen noodles. And I honestly do not understand how many vending machines there are in one place in Japan. Ipods? Well I have so much to learn, so thank you guys for putting up such a site. Hopefully when I go to Japan next year I won't be that lost with Japanese culture.
  • Now that sounds awesome.
SCALDING DISASTER NOODLE CANS! haha now that sounds awesome
  • It's a wierd way to serve noodles, but it's convienient. I wonder why people in America would want to eat that. Who knows how they cook that stuff. I wouldn't eat that.(Especially out of a can)
  • Wow, now that’s automation. Just pop it open for delicious, but not guaranteeably fresh, ramen!
I personally would love to try this.
Well, the guy in the picture seems to be enjoying it, so why not? Hopefully someone going to a Japan in the near future will get a chance to try it and give us a little review.

But man, have you seen a picture of that konnyaku plant? Scary.
  • japanese are genious in making things easier XD
(although i admit the shoes and iPods in vending machine is a bit too far x____X)
hehe~ i kinda curious about vending machine, since there's no vending machine in my country..)
i guess maybe if japanese continue this vending machine culture, soon there will be a all-you-need vending machine XD
hahaha~ okay that was just stupid..
    (..or Genious?!)
    *lols*
  • Man.. Where were all these weird things when we were over there?
  • wow i have heard of those canned noodles before i heard you could get some with oden in the cans have you heard of umaibou?
  • I want to try this so bad.
  • I think it is funny about getting shoes and an I pod out of a vending machine. Things like that would never work in America, I mean you have to put all kinds of chains, locks and mesh wire on a machine for potato chips just to keep someone from stealing those $.50 bags of lays.
  • Canned Ramen might be the most important thing that has even happened in the history of the vending machine world. When Zombies attack and people are stranded, only the Japanese will be in a safe spot. Vending Machines with Ramen will save Japan.

And the only way a vending machine can go to far is if you can get a bride out of a vending machine.
  • Konnyaku noodles sound really yummy! I would so eat them if they came to America. Cup noodle sounds kinda blah, but they’re actually really good. You’d probably get really tired of it if you eat it every day, but once in a while isn’t too bad.
  • There's a new iPod vending machine in my local Stop&Shop grocery store right here in Western Massachusetts. It sell $500 headphones as well. I'm not kidding. Maybe they'll get those noodles next...
  • The Japanese are always thinking ahead.

    I want canned ramen : [
  • okay wait if you can get the ramen in cans right?
    and

    they can be purchased

    HOT

    ..

    society wins again.

unless they tape like a piece of cloth to your can
  • "Konnyaku has almost no calories but is very high in fiber"

    Doesnt fiber make you

    poop?
