The only way it would work (I'm guessing) it would have to be like a plane. After a plane is in the air it is pressureized. There is no change in breathing patterns, so I imagine that all windows would be sealed shut (FIRE hazard) and there would be a strick ban on smoking in case if they did have to pump all of that air to the top. It would eliminate everyone's social life at the top, so I guess there goes the idea of entertaining people. Although I suppose the top would be a great place for tourist. The comfort of being warm and the ease of an elevator to the top to see that view. Personally I wouldn't go there as a tourist as it seems like a complete death trap, and my luck a massive fire would break out and the thing would sink all at once.

One last thought for anyone that might know this information. If this was built wouldn't this structure hurt Tokyo's fishing market along with other trade commerce?

I remember hearing about this and watching something about on some t.v station. Probably the discovery channel. The first thing I thought was.. if Japan makes enemies, their sick minds would surely hit them where it hurts.(their enemy, that is) Perhaps bomb the giant thing and kill countless unfortunate people. With all these psychos with power in the world today, something like this could end horribly.

good idea to live on the water, but this will sink eventually. how are they fixing the lack of oxygen near the top? i'd think it would be rather expensive to permanently pump air that high up. maybe this will spawn a super futuristic society. i want my hovering cars and new tokyo!

Yeah, I heard about that one too. I think this one is different, which made me realize that the other pictures up there must be from the one a year ago. This one is definitely much much taller, and less pyramidy. And you saw it on the discovery channel :D

Doesn't matter too much though, because they'll never build either of these

Eh... I don't really like it...It would be wierd... VERY wierd... haha. That reminds of that movie with Jim Carrey, "The Truman Show"? I think. I remmeber they had an artificial sun and stuff. Do they ever open the windows in this place? Haha. People will be very disconnected from the outside world. I mean sure, they can get all the information through media, but still, it's like they're closed off... haha. Just wierd.

Also, if you think about it, that park is really small. Look at the size of the tenis court compared to the rest of it.

I heard about that already a while ago, but i still can't believe how that shall work. As you said they are relying on something that isn't really existent yet.

Alone the height of nearly 4 kilometers!... hardly possible to imagine that for me!
